Masterclass Overview:

This Masterclass will explore the ethical challenges, opportunities, and strategies for forging more successful collaborations between conventional and integrative healthcare professionals.

Master Class Description:

Collaboration and communication between members of a healthcare team, a research team, an educational team or a policy team can lead to greater outcomes for patients, clients, students, participants, and the general public. When it comes to healthcare, conventional and integrative healthcare providers are not always speaking the same language. This Masterclass provides information and strategies about how communication and collaboration can be more successful, productive, and grounded in the ethics that are foundational to all healthcare.

In addition, participants will receive a marketing brochure template to use in their own practice to establish meaningful collaborative relationships.

Learning Objectives:

As a result of this Master class, you will be able to:

  • Explain the challenges and solutions for communication between conventional and integrative healthcare providers
  • Develop and utilize an appropriate referral network
  • Apply strategies for outreach to other healthcare providers

Presenter Bio:

Dr. Steffany Moonaz is a yoga therapist and researcher, currently serving as Director of Clinical and Academic Research at MUIH. Dr. Moonaz spent eight years at Johns Hopkins University, developing and evaluating a yoga program for individuals with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, which has been replicated in collaboration with the National Institutes of Health. She is the founder of Yoga for Arthritis, an organization bringing evidence-based yoga programs to people with arthritis nationwide, as well as educating yoga professionals to work safely and effectively with this population. Dr. Moonaz collaborates on multiple interdisciplinary research teams and mentors emerging integrative health researchers. She serves on the boards of the Academic Collaborative for Integrative Health, Accessible Yoga, and the Scientific Advisory Committee of the American Academy of Naturopathic Physicians.
