Description:
In this Master Class, we’ll dive into one specific area of health: The Microbiome and Cardio-Metabolic Disease. New research indicates that imbalances in the microbiome drive inflammation, fatty liver disease, obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. We’ll explore this research and discuss clinical pearls to inform your approach to treatment.
With the prevalence of cardio-metabolic disorders reaching pandemic proportions, the search for modifiable causative factors has intensified. One such potential factor is the vast microbial community inhabiting the human gastrointestinal tract, the gut microbiota. For the past decade evidence has accumulated demonstration that distinct changes in gut microbiota composition drives fatty liver disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
This master class will explore the relationship between the gut barrier function and obesity, metabolic syndrome and diabetes. We’ll look at current research and look at practical methods which can heal gut barrier function and balance the microbiota to shift metabolism towards health. We’ll also focus on the role of probiotics, prebiotics and food as therapeutic interventions.
This is Masterclass 2 in the Microbiome Masterclass Series.
